I know this is a little off the beaten path, but I figure someone out there will know the answer.

Got a Dorman regulator with motor for our 2006 trailblazer. The cable is about 9" too long and the whole setup is falling apart. Do I have to put the power to that motor and run it a bit to have it pull in the cable to bring things back tight? Is it just a bad unit?

Went down and got a different one at a local store. It just did not look right.
