New Radio

RE: New Radio
My T-harness for the remote mount - $37, $50 for the installation, which I think was high, but that's what it was.
Steering wheel adapter - $90, $40 labor
Onstar module - $100, $100 labor. NOTE: this was the worst part of the install, getting this to work right.
I got $720 labor in this install, but I had lots of problems with the guy that did the install in my '01, and this system is more than just a radio, with the 2nd battery, power inverter, XM + Sirius, amp, etc.

RE: New Radio
Ya, i dont think i want to pay someone to do that job seems costly. i can wire all the stuff by myself, cause i called some stores that deall with car audio and was telling me i need two different harness. i just wanted to know if anybody had something that they did different.

RE: New Radio
They tried different, but couldn't get different to work. And there is a lot of wire in my car. 2 bat's, 110v in front, 12 & 110v & RCA inputs in trunk, 6ch stereo, and remote factory radio. It's wired for the next system, but I had most of this from the '01.

RE: New Radio
i dont have the T connector in mine i actually just have the harness adaptor in my car, witch means i have lost my door chime and also the ability to use the radio to reset some things.
But i still have the stereo here so if i need or want to ever go back to it i can with out a issue.
But you cna install a stereo in the car with out the remote mount harness. So if you want a after market head unit it can be done. What were talking about is keeping all of the functions in the car that the stock radio controlls.
I have the steering wheel controlls on my car but i actually never use them i have a remote for my stereo. So what good was the harness?
i dont miss the door chime at all.
and as far as the oil minder i can reset it with out the radio and i can plug the stereo in if i need to do other things that bad. But afte rit being apart of the car for this long with out a issue i dont see that having to happen very often at all
