Default Map lights not working all the time

I have the not-onstar rearview mirror and my map lights will only work when it is positioned a certain way, which is usually just all mangled and twisted around. Is this bad wiring or a bad mirror or what? It's been this way ever since I bought it back in February.

It's the wiring. Mine does the same thing on all 3 mirrors that I've had lol

I have 1w leds in mine and only the driver side works right. The passenger is barley lit (a candle is brighter). If I put regular bulbs back in it works fine. I've tried multiple good leds and none work correctly on the passenger side for some reason.

- I have the same problem in my 03 SS with NON-OnStar. LEDs that sometimes flicker, dome light, too. I wiggle the cable in the back, & everything is fine, ... even the rear-view headlight dimmer thingy stops working & the green light goes out.

I dunno, but I am going to figure it out in the spring, or hard wire a switch for the maps, & see to it that the rear dimmer gets power as needed without fussing.

The harness is probably destroyed. I was playing with mine earlier & noticed the wires are pretty thin. Using a window shade is probably the cause of it. Dealing with the same thing, when the harness was pushed up everything worked, but let go & its got no power..

Has anyone found a fix for this? My 04 non-onstar does the same thing. ONLY works when wiggling wires. auto-dimmer does the same too.....

You usually have to get a new pig-tail and splice it in.

The one mirror I bought would never work because of the plug. They all must be bad or at least the majority have this problem. I use the old mirror out of my lumina and have never had a problem. These mirrors are also in the 5th gen monte.
