Looking to buy new head unit, back speakers and amp.
Installing the head unit, i got a harness and tried hooking it up last night, power , chimes everything worked but no sound from the stereo came out, i think i am missing a piece...
alright buddy, if there is one thing i am an expert at its car audio!! i could go on for hours and hours. first things first go with a pioneer head unit any of them thats above $150 and NOT FROM WAL-MART!!! all that walmart bull is knock-off with pioneer name. dont go above 8 gauge wire for a 1000 watt amp, use about 12 gauge for teh speakers make sure they are all the same length. speakers go with kenwood, clarion, SPL,and infinity has some ok speakers. if you are looking for a new amp id go with a power acoustic gothic series, they put out alot of amps with less watts. umm, if got any questions about car audio feel free to PM me.
I would doubt you're missing a piece of the kit. What interface did you use? IIRC, the interface will have RCA connections for you to hook up your headunit to for use of the factory amp. If you've done this according to the interface's installatioin instructions, my next guess would be forgetting the remote turn on wire.
Sorry man, everything you just said shows pretty clearly that you're no expert. Pioneer is good but not a headunit god, and every Pioneer at Wal-Mart is the exact same as it would be at Best Buy or Crutchfield; they're not knock-offs. Alipine, Eclipse, and lots of others are just as good as Pioneer, and better in some ways. Next, 8 gauge wiring is not big enough for a 1000 watt RMS amp. Also, 12 gauge speaker wire isn't really necessary for most systems; it's fine to use but usually not required. Next up, Power Acoustic is definitely not the brand an expert would recommend for amps, they're usually overrated on output by a long shot.
There's not much I can do for you from here. Step one would be go back and re-read all of the instructions and double check your work and connections. Figure out what the one wire you didn't connect to anything is. On your headunit, there's probably a wire that's blue or blue with a white stripe; make sure it's connected to something.
not just any power acoustic buddy, gothic series, and i thought you were going max power 1000W. no you dont need 12 awg. but itll sound a hell of alot better. thanks for your opinion though
