Don't even look at the max wattage ratings for audio equipment. All you need to care about is the RMS rating, because it's the only meaningful one. Max ratings are just big numbers used for marketing reasons. Also, wanting a 1000 watt amp for 400 watt speakers doesn't make too much sense.

If you only want to replace one set of speakers, definitely do the front as they're so much more important to sound quality. Get a set of 6.5" component speakers and an appropriate amp for them. The amp you choose should have about the same or slightly higher RMS rating per channel than the speakers.

First suggestion: don't shop at Walmart for car audio. Second: don't buy any Sony car audio equipment.

That headunit looks pretty cheap to me. I wouldn't expect good quality out of it, nor would I expect it to last very long. Stick with brands like Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse, Panasonic, or other reputable brands for your headunit. You'll thank yourself later.

Ok, the first Kenwoods you linked to would probably sound ok. I hate how companies try to see how many tweeters they can throw on a 6x9 speaker. I would never own a 5-way speaker like the other set you linked, I don't like the 4-way to be honest. If I wanted 6x9s in your situation, I'd probably get these:

Now, if you're looking for a real 1000 watt amp, I have this one myself and have been more than happy with it. It's pretty big in physical size, but you get great quality and pretty high power at a really cheap price with it.

As far as headunits go, I'm partial to Pioneer because I like the way they're set up and they always have the right combinations of features for me. Judging by the one you linked, I'll assume you're wanting to stay kinda cheaper. This one seems to fit what you want, minus being a touch screen.
