JBL C608GTI speaker install + Amp
I am looking to start replacing the stereo in my 2003 SS. I am going with the JBL C608GTI's listed above, and the JBL PX600.2 Amp. I am looking in replacing the front speakers first, as they are the ones I mostly hear, and for now I want to stay with the factory head unit until I can gather the money to get the one I am looking for with the steering wheel, and door chime interfaces. My questions are, what wiring do I need to install the amp (besides power cables and such)I am looking for the adapters and such to connect factory wiring to the amp. Also, where would the best location for the tweeters be in the car? I am thinking about an A-pillar mount, but Im not sure how to do this. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: will I have mounting depth problems with the speakers? oh yeah, and where should the crossover be placed... As you can guess, this is my first install.

Not sure about wiring, But I have Pioneer 6 1/2" 4-ways in the doors. I haven't mounted tweeters, and actually got talked out of it. They told me they would be overpowering.

Yeah, your 4 ways can produce the highs most likely with a built in tweeter. These however only feature a bass and midbass unit it one, and a separate tweeter running off a cross-over. Although after looking at your car, I like way you put in the stereo. Where did you get that adapter? I can probably hook a graphic equalizer, and the headunit in there.

This unit has a built in equalizer, about 20 bands, 10 left and 10 right. Top of the line Pioneer deck.
Speakers sound good, plenty of highs, but I still wish I had tweeters. I've been in cars tho where the tweeters are too overpowering, not balanced. My system is well balanced, and fully controlable from the deck, including the sub-woofer. Just needs more power. (It actually has more power than anyone needs, but you know what I mean).
The mount is a standard double-din unit, about $25. The bottom gauge panel I made from billet aluminum. I needed a voltmeter, so I designed and built this piece.

there mounted on the door panel up near the lock buttons and mine could be if i set them that way but you just need have them tuned right.. i have a deck.. flip up screen that lets me put the exact Decibals i want to each speaker in my car and the frequency so i got them set pretty good but if you turn them up all the way you can hear the vocals from like 2 blocks down the street lol

Hey guys, I just thought about something for the tweeter mount. Are the A-pillars the same in the new monte carlos as the 03's? if so, I can buy a new set, and install them, having the spot for the tweeter mount already cut.

I'm running a 1 x 1200rms@ 1 ohmamp and I've had absolutely no problem with my factory battery/charging system. I wouldn't even worry about a capacitor unless you going to go with a huge, high powered sub/amp combo.
As for the new Monte a-pillars fitting, I too would like to know this. My components would sound alot better if the tweeter was higher in the front...
