Interior LED upgrade question
Has anyone modified the window switches to LED's?? If so, can you please help me. I've modified the instrument cluster, HVAC and power mirror switch. I cannot get the drivers side window switch apart. I read on the forum that there was a walkthrough for this but I cannot find it for the life of me. Also, is there a way to replace the lights on the steering wheel to LED's?? Thank you in advance for the help.
i havent read the walkthrough on it, but the majority of small electronics are just held together by small clips. the gray plastic cover should be held in by two clips on the front and back of the switch. same with the steering wheel controls.
it would probably be pretty easy to break the clips if you pried too hard with a small screwdriver.

Thanks for the response 02LS. I've got the drivers side window switch apart and opened up. The problem with this switch is there are two circuit boards sandwiched inside. to get the top board off, you have to unsolder two places and the board will come out leaving you with another board inside. the trick is getting that second board out. It's looking like I'm going to have to unsolder a few more places to get this board to come out. Just don't know what joints to unsolder. Heck, I may be wrong all together and may be some simple procedure I'm not seeing. This LED mod has now turned into a job
it always does! i did an entire interior with replacement LEDs once and i didnt really like it. in some places it wasnt bright enough, in other places it was too bright, the red hvac turned purple (some people might like that effect).
in the car that i did this in, there was a clear plastic diffuser plate, if i ever did this again, i would flatten the tips of the LED bulbs.
i have no idea what is used these days flat or bulb LEDs.

I'm liking the mod so far. it's just a lil more work than I had intended. I did learn the hard way about the directional characteristics of an LED when I put my instrument all together, installed and calibrated needles, only to find out certain spots were WELL lit and others barely lit
Also, the reddish/orange tachometer redline area and the temperature overheat areas will not light. I guess the blue LEDs and those colors cancel out or are not bright enough. I'm using 13000 mcd blue LEDs so brightness shouldn't be a problem. The rest of the mods are looking pretty good. Although, I had to put on my Macgyver hat to install the current limiting resister inside the power mirror switch.

Once I get er all done, I'll post the finished product. I went with the blue LED's. Finished with the dash and drivers side. Need to do the passenger side and steering column. Ordered the floor lights, dome and map lights today from V-Leds.com Also ordered two 12" blue LED strips to put in the footwell.
Does anyone have a list of all the sizes of the interior bulbs needed to do this upgrade. Instruments radio hvac door buttons steering wheel. Ive got my car apart and ready to do this but need to know what all sizes I will need.

This is an old there. Might be best to start your own. Plus, what year are you dealing with. I know in 00+ the bulbs are soldiered to the board for the cluster, HVAC, radio and all the button back lights.
