Default Highbeam out message

I just picked up a 2003 monte carlo a few weeks back and i keep getting a message for highbeam out. I checked the bulbs and they all work. The weird thing is that it only happens when the drl's are on, if i manually turn the headlights on the message wont appear. Any ideas what it could be, possibly a fault in the drl. Thanks!

I didn't even realize that our cars had a light out indicator. Then it occurred to me that in the 7 years I've owned this car, I've never had to change a single bulb. Weird.

I do know ours cars use the high beam bulb for the DRL and it switches to the low beam when the lights come on. I think it also kills the High beam/DRL when you put it in park, doesn't it? Are you sure your checking the right bulb?

it could be something esle but when this happened to me both the highbeams and low beams was on at the same time. what i had to do is change the multifucntion switch on the steering coloum. make sure you check the fuses first and the relays as well
