Well here are a few more shots for the project. The panels come with square edges. In order to better wrap the fabric we will need to round the edges as shown with a sand paper. Be gentle when sanding as it shapes very easily. Used a Loctite fabric multi-purpose spray adhesive from Walmart's fabric section. It's repositionable and dries permanent.

Have the red crushed velvet field applied and the smaller bowtie wrapped. pre-cut the velvet to almost the proper size. Test fit it and then applied according to the adhesive instructions.

I sprayed the larger bowtie black for demo purposes, it will actually be wrapped in a black auto grade vinyl. I'm off setting the bowtie's from the center and am having a Team Monte Carlo with Taz about 6" tall and 12" long embroidered on the black vinyl and will mount it directly below the bowties. Also having 2 fluttering checkered flags 6" x 8" embroidered that will be mounted to each side of the bowties at an angle to simulate them having crossed staffs. And that should be about it, Thinking of using a checked flag material to wrap the 1" thick edge of the field panel to provide some contrast to the actual red trunk lid and the red panel field, but not commited on that detail yet.

Sanding the edges to a radius with 80 grit and then 220 grit.

Finished edges with the 220 grit and a gentle touch.

Note I did the front and back with radius edges, being better able to wrap the fabric

Bowties finished with sanding

Field panel wrapped with the crushed red velvet

Panel fabric bonded to back with spray adhesive.

Want to do a dimensional set of bowties for effect. The lower is just a mock up painted, waiting for the black vinyl to be returbed from the embroidery shop and will then wrap the larger bowtie with it for contrast.

Hello Greg.
I sent a P.m to you with a request. I'm not sure it went through. Been trying to make my mat for over a yr. Even with help from LTmonte5,4 attempts it still don't fit properly.
Thank you
