7th Gen ('06-'07): In dash light bulb size?
Hey,
Does anyone know the size/number of the light bulbs that are in the speedometer/tacometer etc. The stock lights are dim and i was looking to replce them with some bright white lights. Thanks a lot!

Actually, it's not that difficult. I own a 2006 Monte Carlo LTZ. I recently swapped the dash bulbs on mine and it only took about 2 hours. You simply take the gauges out, pop the tabs on the clear plastic. Unscrew about 4 screws, pop off the needles and that's it! Now you're left with the bare cluster. You have to unsolder the old dim bulbs and get yourself some white LED T5 bulbs on eBay for about $3 for ten of them. You'll need to buy 16 for the whole cluster. 4 for the tach, 4 for the odometer and 4 for the gas and temp gauges. Once you unsolder the old bulbs, you're left with 4 holes where the old bulbs were. When you get the new bulbs, spread out the two prongs and plug in your cluster. Turn the dash lights on (but there should be no bulbs at all at this point). This is where it got tricky for me but once you do it right, it's fast and easy. Grab all 16 bulbs, and a sharpie. Touch the prongs on the LED on any two of the four holes left by the old bulbs. Once the LED turns on, paint one prong black with the sharpie and mark the hole that the prong touched black as well. This way, when you solder the LED on there you'll know where the prongs go. Do this for all 16 bulbs and put he gauge cluster back the way you took it apart. When you turn your lights on, the white LEDs will make the guages glow a bright blue NOT WHITE like I assumed! It still give your gauges a new sharp look. I hope this helps, I'll add some pics to this thread later if you like. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I found some white gauge overlays on eBay for $25 that you can throw on there since you have your gauge taken apart. They're basically like stickers that go over your current gauges with soap and water and stay stuck on. I have to replace one of my LED's already because it's flickering. Once it's done, I'll add pics also.
