Default Cupholder Question

Actually, two questions.

1. The fronts--is there supposed to be one of those removable hard plastic sizing things like I had in my Camaro and the wife has in her SRX, or else a rubber mat? It looks so plain and cheap as it is.

2. The rears--were these actually supposed to hold cups, or are they just a decoration? Every time I dare to make a turn or stop short with a cup in the back, I end up having to clean the contents out of my carpet.

1. You could always mod yours

2. Cup holder tech seems to have gotten better in very recent years as I have sat in newer cars' backseats - but they seems geared for bottles in the door. I'm guessing in the Montes, they have that fold down in the middle similar to Impalas? I've never had any drinks back there so I couldn't say. My 2000 Grand Am had cup holders at the bottom of them center console for the rear. I'm sure the idea was that the car would be stopped while you were using them.

edit: BTW what year Aurora did you have? I always liked those as well.

1. How?

2. I had an 01 3.5. I wish every day I'd had the 4.0--partly because it came with all sorts of things standard that were options on the 3.5, partly because my friend's '99 with the 4.0 is still running and mine has gone to the boneyard in the sky.

You'd probably want to grab a cup holder from a Camero or something and see if it fits. So so I am sure what you're referring to - my 05 Impala has 2 cup holders behind the floor shifter and 1 in front. Do MC have the same setup? and are you referring to the front or the back then?

Side note: Open the console, pull straight up on the cupholder.

Hidden compartment.

The Monte has two in the front, in the usual place, and two in the back, in the fold-down armrest. I am referring to both the lack of friction material in the front, and the lack of the ability to actually hold a cup in the back. (Coffee cups might fit. I hate coffee.)

Lost track of this. Before making anything, I'd grab a few of those rubber/plastic, removable cup holders from an Impala - might be the best fit. Not sure if 2006-2013 Impalas have them or not but 2000-2005 does.

Not sure I would worry about the back - I'd tell the backseat people to be careful. I know my 05 Impala doesn't have anything there apart from a bare 2 cup holder design. You might also try the front Impala cup holders back there. Later today, I'll pull my removable cup holder from my front and put it in the back to check size. I'll let you know what I find. I can't imagine there would be such a wide variety of sizes within the same gen. or 1 up.

I own a 2007 Impala. The cupholder is square, it's 1 piece for the 2 cups with a swivel arm.

Thanks for the info - I've never sat in one and I was looking on google images "2007 MC interior"

So seems likes you may need to check 2006-2013 imapalas or heat/stretch or make your own if it bothers you to that extent. Might need to make a mold and make out of some material - fiberglass or rubber or something else if you can get creative.
