Sometimes, the Internet is useless. This is one of those times.
My two-part question is:
1. Did the 6th gen ever have automatic climate control?
2. If so, is it possible that the wiring for it exists in the 7th gen, and all I need to do is find a head unit and an interior temp sensor, and plug and play? I've had the car two months, and I'm already sick to death of taking my eyes and attention off the road to deal with Florida humidity.

I assume by "automatic climate control" you mean the ability to sense the actual temp in the cabin of the car and stop blowing heat or a/c when the cabin reaches the desired temp?
If that is what you are looking for, I am not aware of any Monte having that feature. In theory you might be able to use parts from another GM car (such as I believe some of the Buicks may have had a feature like that) and possible mod/adapt it to the Monte.
