2004 MC SS

Since I'm not interested in paying $13 for the GM tool to remove a cigarette lighter, what tricks of the trade do you all employ to remove the lighter housing?

I see the tabs that hold the thing in place, I'm just unsure what to put in there that can depress both tabs at the same time.

 

Haven't had to do it, but it seems like you should be able to depress on the tabs with either two FH pocket screwdrivers or two 90o bent pick tools inserted into the socket, crossed over each other against the tabs at opposing angles and pull.
