Did u read the warning in the lower right hand corner of that picture? This is exactly what I thought the problem was, ur impedance is too low. Follow me.......that amp is 2 ohm stable but only when run in stereo, when u bridge it, its then running mono and the impedance is now split in half between both channels so your single 2 ohm load is now 2 1ohm loads.....ur amp is not 1ohm stable so its overheating and shutting off cause it can't handle it.

Just to confirm that is indeed the problem, run each coil from the sub to its own channel on the amp, reset ur gain, and bump it like u did before. As long as there is no permanent internal damage to the amp, you'll see that it no longer gets sizzling hot and won't cut off anymore either. My suggestion, get a new 1ch amp that does at least ur subs rms at 2 ohms

I had a similar issue with my Infinity amp a few years ago and my issue was that it would get hot and then it would go into protection. And then when it would cool down I could turn it back on and everything was fine until it got hot again. My issue was that I had a back ground wierd issue but it fixed the problem and I haven't had this issue since. So it might be something to look into maybe. Just for the heck of it.

Yeah, that's a possibility too. But even if that is partially to blame, his amp still isn't 2ohm stable when bridged so that has to be addressed regardless.

millhouse thank you for pointing that out. i was a little weary of wiring it myself. as it was my first time ever wiring an amp and a sub. i just followed the directions. but i still think im going to upgrade to the alpine M500 regardless. i was also thinking of running it at 8ohms. but i dont want to loose so much power.
I went out and drove around and it overheated and i checked all the wires making sure none of them where hot and checked the ground multiple times and everything is good.

Don't run it at 8 ohms, too much resistance! Run it so that the pos and neg of each voice coil are wired to its own channel on the amp, aka 4 ohm stereo.
