Default Amp Location!

Where would I put an aftermarket amp in my 01 monte carlo? Of course, a sub box with 2 12"s will be in the trunk but I don't want my amp attached to the box. I was thinking maybe the amp can be inside the car (underneath the seat - which is too small) or where ever. Any Suggestions! Thanks in advance!

Depending on the depth of the screws, you could always attach it to the panel over the spare tire.

I have mine in between the subs and the backseat. Its nice because you can then put most of the cords under the carpeting and make it look clean if you fold the seat down. I usually do, the backseat dampers the subs A LOT.

yeah it's nice to attach it to the backseat, and then put the sub case in front of it, HIDES the amp from view, but when you wanna do something with it, it just takes flipping the seat down to get to it.

The reason why I didnt put it on the back seat is, the backseat splits in half. Cords/Wiring need to be longer to let the movement come down, then you have a lot more wires to work around in the back. If you can get the wires cleaned up, either way looks and works great.

I plan to mount mine to the back of the seats havent gotten around to it yet, so for now I have my seats folder down subs facing back seat and the amp wedged next to it, but really you want the amp as far from the sub as possible it blows my mind how many professional install places mount the amp on the box, thats so bad for the amp because of the vibrations. But yes I agree with blacksheep safest and all around most convenient place.

You can do something like this and make your own box. I did this because since the sub box is to big and can not be pushed all the way back to the seat it stops on a ledge that comes down behind where the factory amp is, and i wanted to save as much trunk space as possible so i made the amps fit in that area.

This pic was taken when i was installing a pair of jl audio 6x9s

I AM going to be making a new one that will have LED bars built into the amp rack and will be laid out better, i am waiting till our radial arm saw gets fixed, but with the same overall design and it will be covered up with some black carpet or something
