Default Altinators anything bigger?

hey all i noticed the other day i think the alt is bad on the monte. if i leave it sitting to long in a parking lot with the radio going it is not wanting to start. This is with a yellow top in it that is less then a year old. So im thinking the Alt might be going on it.

So i started checking around for a new one. (thank god i was sitting down for the price on them)
But do they make one that is bigger then the 105amp?
I have a decent system in it that is also not helpign things out so i figure if i can solve a issue with the Alt being over worked i would also do it.

but man 160.00 for a alt with a 45.00 core OUCH!!
shame i cant find the rebuild kits for them i would do it my self LOL

Any help would be great on this.
Thanks

This might help with powering your stereo: Alternator rewire kit

Here's a 105 amp alternator on Ebay for $25 from an 02 on a 3800.

Ebay alternator

Good Luck

Yeah I just did a search and came up with the same site that DESS03 did. There are plenty of sites out there that offer high output alternators for a variety of different cars including the Monte. Do a search for "High Output Alternators" and you should have no problem finding one.

Yeah let me know what the deal is with that yellow top...I was thinking of getting one...especially since I am getting the Monte a new 1700 watt amp for christmas...she deserves it.

personally i like the bat. and even when jumping it off it is not useing much to do it.

i have seen others out there also that i would look in to also.

stinger is one of the ones i would look in to if i had to do it again.

but honestly im happy with the performance i have had with this one.i just think i have a bad cell in it. something that could happen at any time with any bat.

i will let you know how they deal with the warrenty on it as the bat was bought in

feb 06 and here we are in Dec 06.

easiest way to tell if a altenator is charging: with the car running take a screwdriver (or anything steel) and stick it to the back of the altenator. if you feel a magnetic pull then the alt is charging. from there you can still check the alt. with a multimeter to see what kind of voltage it's putting out. if all is good on that end shut the car off and leave it setting for a little bit (20 min or so) and put the multimeter on it and see what the voltage is. shouldn't be less than about 12.5 volts. if both of those check out then put the battery on a load tester. if both of those are good and you're still losing power, you've got something drawing power when it shouldn't be....lol, good luck finding that. i'd start with anything aftermarket you've added and go from there.

hope that helped a little
