Default aftermarket radio

Ok, so I want to get an aftermarket radio but I've been confused because of the whole harness thing, I currently have a 6th gen monte with the factory amp, factory radio, and aftermarket speakers. I want to get a double din radio I have a few in mind, so my question is how would I go about that?? Thanks in advance

Best bet is to checkout http://crutchfield.com as they're a good info resource, write down the part numbers and then buy them elsewhere as they can be a little pricey.

I don't use on star and I don't care that much for door chimes, the only thing I do want to work is the steering wheel controls, I chatted with someone at crutch field and I feel as though they where try a sell me all these unnecessary things, I was wondering do I have to make any adjustments to the dash as well

Shouldn't for a double din as the factory radio is a double din, but you do need atleast accessories. One for the wheel controls and then a wiring harness to adapt the radio to the car.

You can install a double din and still use your steering wheel controls. It's a part made by a company called Pac....Google steering wheel controls
