aftermark radio still sounds bad!
Can anyone help me figure out if i'm using the wrong harness! I just recently replaced my factory radio with the JVC av60 but wishing i never upraded because of the low volume and distorted speakers! The car is a 2002 ss w/onstar factory amp no Bose, the local shop told me that my car called for the GMOS-04 harness but doing some research i think they might be wrong! I'm thinking the correct harness is the GMOS-01 or GMRC-01. ( i'm i correct or not)??????... please help

The GMOS-04 is correct, although there are some cheaper options that you could have gone with.

Are you on the stock speakers? Do you know if they are being powered by the stock amp still? You may want to look into bypassing the stock amp to run the speakers off the amplifier in the JVC headunit.
This can be done by removing the amp and replacing this in it's place:
METRA 70-2054 GM MULTI 1998-2008 AMP BYPASS HARNESS FOR AFTERMARKET INSTALLATION | eBay
Or if you're good with wiring you can cut and splice the wires together, but then you would have to cut the stock wiring harness and clip out.
Good luck, post if you need more info

hi their im new to the site but i use to have a 00 model and had to deal with the same things the aftermarket kit ran me $100 bucks but in order to even lessen to your after market jvc you are going to have to bypass the factory amp check the wiring your installer did and make sure all wires are not crossed around and were they should be it took me and my installer about a hour when i had mine to even get it working right im surprised ur even aboul to here more then a whisper from them with the amp still active also but dont hold me to it if i remember right because it was like 2yrs or so ago it should also deactivate the door chime but im not 100% sure on that i think the model i had deactivated mine
also not 100% on but u loose your controls to the computer when you took out the factory radio because everything on in your dash oil lights and all are controlled threw the radio but like i said its been a while sense i had the car so im sure their has been a lot of updates for the systems to still control the computer settings

My suggestion would be to bypass the factory amp, upgrade your factory speakers to aftermarket 4ohm models and enjoy the new, great sounding setup you have.

That's quite the exaggeration there, but it certainly improves the overall SQ noticeably
