Default Activate XM question

I think I asked this question before but never got a clear answer. Its regarding satellite radio. I have an 06' SS and XM radio was the only feature left off the build list. My girlfriend just bought a new Malibu and it has satellite radio with the exact same stereo in the car as mine. When I hit the "CAT" button the display shows "XM Feature". My question is, is there a way to activate this ? I don't want to buy one of those external devices, I know my stereo can handle this feature. Is it as easy as calling XM to activate ?

I think you need the XM Module (usually in the trunk) and the satellite antenna before you can get a subscription to XM

Probably something that the dealer needs to be involved for. You could always go to an audio place and ask them if they do factory XM installs.

Where's the sat antenna ? What is the antenna on my roof control, onstar ?

I'm not 100%, but they probably share the same antenna, but without the trunk module, the wire may not be run from the antenna to the module to the radio?

Wish I could help further, I don't have XM in my car. I'm basing this off my sister's 2004 Impala SS, because there's a black XM module in her trunk

Thats good thanks, I'll call my dealer. If it doesn't cost that much I'll get it done, if not I'll live.
