What is the overall outcome of deleting the U-bends and getting flowmasters on my 03 SS?

deleted ubend = a little more power

flowmaster muffler = roughly the same power as stock, different noise

Sound, and I've heard the Manga's have better flow characteristics.

i have flows on my monte right now and they sound nice, you do get a little more flow with magna's but its like a 3-4 hp gain which isnt even noticeable, whereas theres no gain with the flows but the sound is much better

As I said in the other exhaust thread, don't choose an aftermarket muffler for power- choose one that has the sound you want.

The stock mufflers aren't particularly restrictive, so the power gain by going to a higher flow aftermarket muffler is nearly nothing- and going from one higher flow muffler to another is going to be even less of a change.

The restrictions in the exhaust are all up at the front end (ubend forward) of the car.

Driving around town- no not really. If it is a true CAI (not an open cone in the engine bay), then you will gain a little powerto the wheels, but its not something you're really gonna feel.
