Wow, awesome, thanks for all that. So there is a difference between a supercharger and an electric supercharger I imagine. What about a supercharger, not an electric one? Or a turbocharger?

A supercharger is belt driven, meaning that it spins with the engine, like the alternator, AC compressor, etc.

A turbo charger is exhaust driven, meaning it uses your exhaust pressure to spin up the turbo

And electric supercharger just uses a 12v battery to spin. Barely can spin fast that way at all.

You should research how this stuff works. Learning how your car is put together and how everything works is a great knowledge to have. Cars are not cheap, and knowing about them can save you money and it's a great hobby

I have another important question that some might be able to answer. If getting rid of the old intake to replace with the intake that was suggested to me here, does that void my car's current powertrain warranty?

There is no certain answer, but it could. That's why it's good to keep the old airbox and if something would happen, you can switch it back. It's a very good idea to know how to replace the cai back to original if needed........

There's actually an FTC law that states that the dealership HAS TO PROVE that your intake was the cause of the problem.

For example, if the MAF sensor gets oil on it from the intake and it is ruined... not covered.

If your suspension breaks, it is covered.

It's not very hard to change out the intake...so IF something goes wrong with the power-train that even has the slightest possibility of being intake related, you can swap it back to stock.

As for the exhaust, I had mine done at a local muffler shop. I told them I wanted a mellow exhaust, and good sound from the V6...so they turned my single outlet stock exhaust into a dual outlet exhaust with two magnaflow mufflers. Then about a year later, I wanted more of a throaty sound that I was getting, so I had them cut out the stock 18" resonator and replace it with a Magnaflow 14" resonator. It is the perfect blend of loud, and throaty, and has a great sound for a V6. The overall cost was somewhere around $350-400 if I recall correctly for everything.

if you are looking for headers they are pretty much a custume build. but what has been mentioned i have done as well exept the pcm i am waiting to do that once i fully pay off my monte before i do that one.

Hey MAMONTE, if I was to get a new exhaust like your latter version, that would not void the warranty?

Also, wanting all your opinions, as it is right now, my car, if I was to race a 1998 Volvo S70R with the R engine but GLT body, that is 5 cylinder and turbo (claims a new turbo was put in because the old one got wet and stopped working or something) do you think that car could beat mine or would I be able to beat it?

That would be a driver's race, but also lean towards the Volvo.

A cat-back exhaust can not void any warranties

I always say it is about the driver as well and we are both very good drivers, especially when it comes to winning a race. Now, ChibiBlackSheep, if I was to do just the CAI (I think that would be my first and easiest modification) do you think I would be able to beat the Volvo then or would that not change it really?
