I was under the impression (maybe wrongly) that a straight back dual system would give me some extra HP. I was also told that it wouldn't be possiable to do straight back becuse of issues of routing the pipes.
magnaflow advertises 20hp gains....idk about all that but you can feel the car can breathe much better with less restriction

For sure... I noticed a BIG differnce when I put my magna flow cat backs on, was like driving a different car. But still.... I do still have the Y pipe.

The "Lew Tune" also helped big time with performance and sound

yea you cant really have true duels on our cars. at least it is much less restrictive than the stock and a tune helps out alot to squeeze any amount of gain out of the new exhaust

What are where is this resonator exactly? Is that a fancy term for muffler you guys are using?

No. the resonator changes the sound of the exhaust and is a little restrictive. On a 6th gen its a really long canister just after the o2 sensor. Looks like it weighs a lot more then just a straight pipe.

tadcaster and xxtheshockerxx, did you guys tune out DOD with lew after getting the magnaflow catback?

I ordered the system and it should be installed within 2 weeks. After that, I was wondering if a tune is worth it at all? I dont think I am gonna have the resonator deleted.

Give me your thoughts.

I didnt at first. It has a weird sound to it and i didnt like when DoD kicked on. So I eventually got an Overkill tune without DoD it made the car drive completely different. All deleting the resonator will do is give it a more aggressive tone.

For the longest time I also thought about somehow going true dual but it really is almost impossible with the setup our cars have. There's no room to run two separate pipes the entire length of the car and I realized that more when I was under the car installing my MagnaFlow system.

Zach, with the tune, what exactly do you mean when you say the car drives completely different?

Matt , you didn't tune the dod out did you? if not are you planning on it? Again, thanks for the help with the struts and springs, those are going in within 2-3 weeks. I'll put up some before and after pics when it's done.

just overall the car is more responsive and smooth. you really notice the transmission part of the tune with our cars also.

honestly i would just tune it out. takes the risk of the oil comsumption out of the question and the car drives so much smoother.
