prosound muffler?

So I went to my local muffler shop today and talked to the guy about getting a new muffler on my 3400 Monte for increased sound. He suggested for the price a muffler called ProSound is the best bet because its basically a knockoff Flowmaster but its made exactly the same. This place has installed them on a few monte's and he said they sounded nice. Iit would be ablout $125 for the labor and the new muffler itself.

Anyone here have expierence with them?

Never heard of it, couldnt find anything on youtube or google, i have a flowmaster on my 3400 and its sounds great. If anything I'd say shop around for some prices and see how much a flowmaster would cost

lie, lie, lie. its kind of like this company called "flowtech", another knock off brand Flowmaster that doesn't sound like Slowmasters.

he's trying to get you to buy his knock off brand because he's too cheap to pay the license fee for Flowmaster probably.

If you want Flowmasters, find a shop that sells Flowmasters. And make sure it says right on the muffler, "FLOWMASTER"

Nah he sells flows, magnas, and these prosounds. I can't really see a reason he would want me to get the cheaper ones unless they really are just the same thing.

Tho I will probably just go with flows unless they are a ton more money

Same type of deal when I got mine, FloPro's are what they called them, sold all the other mufflers too, said these sounded close to the same as the Flowmasters but had less baffling so more flow. Haven't heard true Flows on a Monte in life yet so I've nothing to compare to, but for half the price I'm damn happy with how my car sounds.

As long as its stainless steel and sounds good to you- who cares what company makes it?

it might sound good but i've never heard a flowmaster knock off sound like a real flowmaster. all cars are made basically the same way too, all engines are made basically the same way. just because tis made the same way as a flowmaster doesn't mean it will sound like a flowmaster. he might be making more profit % off of those prosounds or whatever. maybe he thinks he's looking out for you. tell him to put the real deal on that car :)

All engines are made the same way- what are you talking about? If the interal baffling is built the same was as a flowmaster, it will sound the same- its not like flowmaster has any special secret in their mufflers. I'm not saying the prosound sounds like them, but as long as he likes the sound of the muffler he puts on the car, I don't see what difference it makes what brand it is.

I mean as long as the muffler he gets isn't mild steel, and he likes the sound- it doesn't really make a difference- its not like the flowmasters sound that much better than any other muffler. Also, I don't see what difference it makes if this guy is making the big profit off these mufflers or if flowmaster is making the big profit from their huge markup.

What I did when I was getting the exhaust on my monte was to have them do the exhaust up to where the muffler goes, and then stick some mufflers on real quick so I could find what I want. They had a guy sit in the car, and he had like 5 or 6 mufflers sitting there- and he stuck each one on and gave it a couple revs.

I wouldn't try doing that at a busy shop- but this place was slow that day, and didn't mind at all- as long as I was happy with what I got. Maybe you could ask and see that- that way you can see what they sound like on your exact car before you settle on one.
