PB Blaster
Guys, I know this might seem like a silly question, but....
I finally got my ZZP downpipe (if I'm going to look at that damn CEL for P0140 I at least want to earn it with a high flow cat) but it's going to be a couple days before I get it on. If I start hitting the bolts every night with PB blaster, is that helping me? Or does every time I hit it, then start the car and get the exhaust hot does it just "burn off" and I'm back at square one?
Also, I'm away from the engine bay right now, any chance I can get at those top downpipe bolts through the hood or do I have to jack 'er up and get under?

Keep hitting it with PB blaster. It'll help loosen it up. If you have a 6th gen, it's much easier to get it from under the hood as opposed to under the car. Good luck, those rusted bolts can be a real PITA
Spraying the nuts with PB Blaster a few times for a couple days prior to doing the job will usually do the trick, but if that doesn't work for some reason you can freeze your nuts off...

The quickest way to get the uppers is through the engine bay, IMO. I can direct the straw on the PB, plus the open threads are on the bay side, so you can guarantee you're spraying threads. The head is also very easy to get from the bottom, but you just have to jack the car a lot higher, and you probably can't guarantee you're getting threads from the other side.
Question on the bottom flange, the bolt has so much crap/gunk on it that I can't even see threads anymore. Is that just going to flake off once I turn on it? The head of the bolt even looks like it's just a single piece with the flange due to the crap on it. Is this consistent with everyone else's experience?
