Love it, Looks damn good and the sound is badass, for sure 3000 and over, just screams and you hear it sucking in air. I felt a little more performance up top, more than low end.

I noticed on my intake given it is different engine that when i turn mine off you get a sucking sound about 2-3 seconds after the car turns off. So i was just wondering if the same thing happens with your engines.

Also where are the pics!!!!

I'll post some pics and clipstoo..I have the InSys system too...'99 3800...I LOVE IT. 06MCLTZ, mine screams above 2500 RPM's and this car PULLS until 5800 RPM's. (the stock shift point) On the highway I ran her up to about 100 (Won't do that again) just to see how she pulls...boy does she! The sound is AWESOME and I love the fact it DOES increase fuel economy; albeit not much. I only got 31 mpg that day. I drove 134 miles round trip to where I had to go...My intake makes a sucking noise when I shut the car off too...I think all cars do that, we just don't notice it because of the airbox.

So while the rest of us are waiting on some pictures and clips, have any of you gotten around to building a shield yet? Depending on how this summer goes I might end up with one of these but I'll want to make a box and I have yet to do anything that's really custom on my own so I'll wait for some guidance.

I haven't made a box yet. I don't know if I will or not. It'll depend on how much money I have and if my wife lets me! :o)

I know AFE makes one with a more complete air box, but I have no personal experience with it or AEM. I did have a K&N for another vehicle of mine and it was great. If you do get a CAI, I recommend getting a prefilter for it just to keep sure you are keeping water out.

bottom part of intake box

I bought that same 2 piece intake kit and i was wondering if someone could tell me what is the purpose of that bottom half of the stock intake box? It seems most people leave it on there but i have heard from another forum that it may be some sort of muffler for the intake. If thats the case, does it have to stay on there? Can it be removed? It seems to have some large cables traveling from metal plates which would account for some sort of sound induction, but maybe these can just be tucked awsy somewhere?

Thanks!
