Had a cherry bomb glasspack on my monte back when I had a 3100. It was very loud (obviously, its pretty much straight through inside), and had a very deep sound. For me, it was a bit loud for replacing a muffler, but I drove it for probably 30k with that on there.

I will say, I only paid like $20 for one brand new, they're dirt cheap, and since they're mild steel- they do rust, so I'd definitely look them over pretty well first.

Go with a better quality muffler IMO.

I just put glasspacks on my 01 SS...doesn't sound too bad in my opinion. I was scared of sounding ricey...but it's a DEEP growl.

Even at rev? Or WOT past 4K RPM? That's usually when the 3800's deep sound fails and it starts to sound like a ricer/chainsaw. It's really tough to get these cars to sound great.

Probably because it is universally understood about 3800's with loud exhaust, lol.

This man speaks the truth! At idle, they sound lovely almost regardless of what muffler you have on it. But at WOT alot of them just sound horrible. I have found a happy medium, DynoMax Super Turbo mufflers. Has a nice low tone to it on start up and at idle and maintains a low tone at WOT, doesn't get all high and raspy. Of course, I kept my resonator on as well so that may have alot to do with it.

But I have yet to have a single person dislike my exhaust, not that it really matters cause regardless I think it sounds perfect for this v6.
