It's been done a couple of times... it's kinda a big no-no.

You'll get tons of rasp and annoying noises. I would suggest magnaflow mufflers. Also tips will push the sound out more away from the underbody, some tips are resonated and they'll tone down the sound a very minimal amount.

Howdy, Just posted about my new exhaust and found a great V8 sound, no "bumble bees" and a very tolerable, powerful inside sound. Put 2 super 44's, 4" tips, and a 12" glasspac. This gives me no downshift "pops" and the last thing you think it has when you hear it is a 6 cylinder. Good luck to you, my friend....

I had to get rid of my resonator and just installed a straight pipe instead. still got the two mufflers but it sounds a little deeper than with the res and mufflers. I like it, and it still is no headache while your driving

You may be better suited to start a new thread, but here's my answer:

Resonator delete will make almost no sound difference. Muffler delete will make the car quite loud. You may want to check Youtube for videos of these cars without mufflers just to see what it sounds like.

'Better' depends what you're after as they serve two different purposes.

I completely agree with nitehawk though - in general muffler delete has the bigger impact on overall volume. Resonator delete tends to be more impactful on certain frequency ranges, but the overall volume change isn't nearly as big.

IMO for a 3800 car though, muffler delete is never a good route. The 3800 gets pretty nasty when it gets a lot louder than stock.
