Magnaflo Cat
Hello Friends,
Has anyone ever gotten a bad Magnaflo Catalytic Catalytic Converter from Summit Racing? While I was checking my Trans fluid level the other day I was getting a tool out of the trunk and smelled rotten eggs out of my exhaust. I do have a P0122 code for TB signal low. I've got 4.89v in and the resistance of the TBS changes as I take the reading from either outside pin to the center pin. So I know I have to find the brake in the center, signal wire and fix it. But could that low signal cause the rotten egg smell from the cat.?

P0122 refers to low voltage at the TPS - not the TB. Yes, it could cause a rotten egg smell because if it can't properly detect the position of the throttle the PCM can't adjust the fuel injectors correctly. If the TPS was recently replaced double check for proper installation. Check the wiring harness to insure there are no open/shorts in the circuit.

Thanks 03SSLE, I thought so. And Sorry for the TB mistake. I new I was talking TPS even though my fingers wrote TB. FIRST thing in the morning before COFFEE is not a good time to type. I have 2 TPSs. I put both on my multi-meter, and they both Reed good, (adjusted resistance as the sensor was manually adjusted). I Also got 5volts between the 2 outer pins of the plug. So I'm thinking I got a brake or Frayed signal, center wire. It's gonna take some work to expose the whole harness. It's wrapped in electrical tape. (I took it apart before) I'm guessing that is Also the reason that if I am maneuvering through a parking lot and I tap the gas peddle lightly
The idle drops below 600 rpm then pops back up to 900-1000. Best bet would be to replace that whole harness. Every wire in it has been cut and butte connected cause it was wired wrong after an accident before I got it. It's the "Never Ending Story" Syndrome of YelloJAC!
