Default Intake for 3.5

Ok so i have seen the pictures and read something on the forum about the K&n intake for the 5.3 fitting on my 3.5 but the only problem would be the sheild that comes wit it wouldnt be able to fit right? well i have a shop here indianapolis that said they couuld make me a shield to fit around the intake! so you think that will be as effective as using a regualr kit or will it be a wate of money still?

(Im still learning about this kind of stuff)

yeah it would work fine.
just remeber what ever you do if it is close to the hood use some rubber of some kind to seal it to the hood so it will prevent sucking heat threw that area also.

for the rubber for it . go to a junck yard and pull the rubber seal off the trunk of a car that looks in good shape and cut it to the size ya need and valla! done deal

Good point Mickey never thought about the rubber seal. I'm wanting to do this to my car sometime and just make the shield out of plexiglass just like 2000_BLACK_SS, and that blonde girl in your sig is pretty hot by the way Mickey, lol.

I have the 3.9. Those pics are from someone else cars. I asked the same ?'s as you did and they have had no problem with it, bolts right up without the heat sheild that comes with it. That is the 5.3L intake, since they don't make an intake for the 3.5 or 3.9.

ok great thanks for the advice. maybe ill try the intake they make for the 5.3. they actually do make an intake for 3.5 and 3.9 they have them on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-08...spagenameZWDVWthis is the site on ebay where they sell them. i just dont know what one i should do. so you think the one for the 5.3 will fit in my car eventhough i have a 3.5.

ok great thanks i will go for the kandn 5.3 then. so the whole thing will fit except the box correct. i read that you were ganna build a plexiglass box for it. do you think you need a cover for it or should you just not worry about the cover?

It should work without a box or cover, but I would recommend building one to keep the most heat you can away from it
