Thumbs down Help needed!

Hey guys,

Recently i've noticed a slight "hiss" sound when I accelerate.
I'm assuming i've got an exhaust leak.
Here is where i need you experts advice... with a few questions i have.

How much hp & mpg am i losing with an exhaust leak?

delaying the fix to this will hurt the engine?

Can you give me an estimate (ballpark number) as to what an exhaust leak repair cost, and will it need fixing again and again over time?

thanks!

Hmm, mines been doing that too. Never thought much of it, but maybe I'll crawl under it and see if that really is my problem.

Well I didn't really tell anyone, but last minute I didn't trade the Monte. I just bought the Fusion w/o a trade - the guy was only going to give me 2k for my Monte. So I said forget it, and I'm keeping it for a winter driver (or a vacation driver so I don't rack up the miles too fast on the new one).

Exhaust leaks don't hiss, they tick and are loud

Vacuum leaks hiss, check all your vacuum lines

I also thought vacuum when I read "hiss." Who knows though, good luck tracking it down.

Your OBD should be throwing a code for it and that should help you narrow it down. Tried that yet?

The only code that comes up is for bank 2 sensor i believe, 02 sensor.
I'll take it to autozone tomorrow and have them scan it again.

Any idea where the hiss is coming from? Under the hood? Towards the rear? Vac leak should throw a code or you should notice crappy driving, i.e. rich/lean/low power.
