Default Gutted Airbox

I gutted out my airbox yesterday and it seems to have improved performance. Throttle response is better and the engine gives a nicer growl now. If anyone wants to know how I did it just let me know. It was pretty easy....the hardest part was getting the airbox out.

Now that i did this, will it still make a difference if i get CAI this summer?

The Monte airbox is good till about 300 HP so buying a CAI won't really have much of a performance change. I would put my money in other purchases.

well 04 intimidator... it all depends if he is SC or not... on a SC car a gutted airbox is fine... but on NA cars a FWI or othe CAI will still give you gains over a gutted airbox.

a cone filter will flow better then a drop in K&N filter and a smooth tube CAI will be much better then the factory tubing. SC cars can draw in and force air to the motor... but NA cars need to have the lowest restriction in the exhaust cause it draws in air via vaccum...

He has a 3.4 like you do. I would put the money into a larger throttle body.

I think P&P exhaust manifolds might be a good idea too. A gutted airbox really is close to a CAI when it's all said and done.

Either that or build your own FWI.

I have a great setup if you want to PM me your email addy. I have it saved in an MS Word document.

i thought he has a 6th gen monte... if so he cant have the same 3.4L i have. he would have the 3400 motor. they are completely differet motors.

First is my motor second is the 3400 only thing internally they share is that the V of the cylinders is 60*

I am looking to gut out my airbox to increase performance and sound. I have already replaced the stock air filter with the K&N as suggested. Could someone help me with some direction as to how to gut out my airbox myself. I am a owner of a 2005 Monte Carlo.
