I put a single Flowmaster Delta 40 Series on my 3100, and it was LOUD. To be honest, your exhaust sound will change with whatever exhaust tip you put on it. For instance, a bigger open flowing tip will be louder than a smaller tip.

I heard Flow 40's on a 3.4 setup on a youtube video. I think he had the whole custom dual tip set, but it sounded nice! Very mean idle and good rev with very lite rasp. I think he went with flow 40's. Here's the clip, I think you'll like the results.

Bah...slap that sucker on and let your mom hear it, she'd be impressed enough to think it was a good idea.

You will not loose any power swapping out your mufflers to the Flowmasters. I had Super40s on my car for a while and they sounded good and performed fine with the stock system. I had no loss of power. You will hear a lot of personal opinions on here and other internet forums...just keep in mind a lot of it is hear-say and rumors. I really do not believe any Flowmaster muffler will hurt a stock system in the least bit.

You're absolutely right, swapping out the mufflers will give you no gain or loss in power, but it also won't get you 100% of the sound that a full flowmaster exhaust system has. If you do a full cat-back exhaust system, then you can lose a little bit of HP, on the low end, and some torque, unless you have a powerful N/A engine, or it's supercharged/turbocharged, otherwise smaller N/A engines stand to lose some power.
