Default Flowmaster question???

I have a 2004 monte LS with single pipe exhaust. If i were to get a flowmaster muffler would it sound dumb if i kept it single or would i have to make it dual? And which series should i get get i was looking at the 40 series?

It really would not sound all that much different as a single or a dual...The dual is more for looks than sound. Dual might change the sound a bit, but probably not really noticable. Personally I would go with dual because I think it looks better on the Monte's, but single can look good to, it just needs to be done tastefully.

had that kind of setup on my 05 monte ls. flowmasters sound freakin badass on a 3.4. the only problem i had was scraping. but thats what you get when you lower a car that is already really low

thats not exactly true i started with the 40 series on my 2004 ls and it was too loud on the inside of the car and i didn't really like the sound it made when it shifted so i went with the delta 50 series and it sounds just a deep and mean but its not quite as loud espicially inside the car. so in my opinion the 50 series is better but you should go to the flowmaster website and check them out

this is exactly what i (and many others) did on my monte. i had a stock single exhaust and i had the exhaust shop Y it off behind the rear axle into dual magnaflow mufflers. the shop charged me $175 for the parts and labor, not too bad imo.

this is the same concept behind all the aftermarket catbacks and the stock dual setups.

did you already get one? on my truck i actually had a flowmaster super 40, its the 1-in-2-out muffler, kind of a cheaper route, but now i have it sitting in my basement if you still need one, im trying to get rid of it

didn't get one yet still looking into it. I'm definitly getting flowmaster still deciding 40 or 44. i was going to get the 1 in 2 out and split it to dual. Is it worth getting the u bend in the exhaust cut out or not really?

Getting the U-bend cut out and replaced on a 3800 engine nets a 5WHP increase and 3 lbs of torque, not sure what it is on the 3400...probably pretty comparable. If you want an idea of what the flowmaster will sound like, punch it into youtube. Personally, I think the flowmasters on a 3400 sound 2x as good as flowmasters on a 3800. And if you get dual exhaust tips you'll want to get the Y pipe, there's no use in getting TRUE duals on a N/A V6. Actually, running true duals on a V6 with no S/C or T/C can hurt low end torque more than it's worth, from what I've heard. So get the U-bend delete, it doesn't cost all that much and it helps your car's power a bit, and go with the Flow 40's, I saw them on youtube and they sound good for your engine.
