Beautiful Monte 4-Sure
Hi Jeremy, thanks for all your great contributions to
our MCF Family.
I choose Borla, but I believe the sound is a personal preference
to many, and what sounds good 2 you, may not to others.
If price was not a factor, I would have a custom Borla System
on my Monte, but each one you listed has their own tone.
It will be interesting to view the results of your poll.
Wish You & readers a Happy & Good Tuned Exhaust : )

Thanks Space, I actually voted on my own poll. I voted for Borla too. I think it has the meanest sound without making the engine too loud and raspy, as Flowmaster has the tendency of doing. But you're right, to each their own.

Hi `Jeremy,
I had several vid clips of exhaust, but lost them when
my last puter crashed : (
Below is a sound clip that I found...I like drive by clips,
better then Garage Rev'in clips/sounds, but
it will give member's some idea of the Borla sound
EnJoy & Member's post your sound clips to
Jeremy's thread for other members to enjoy the tune/tone

My favorite exhaust on a 3800 is a 97-03 stock grand prix catback- with and without the cat and the resonator. I'm just not a big fan of really loud exhaust on 3800s because they usually end up sounding like poop at some rpm range.

IDK how much truth there is to this, but i'll say it for whatever its worth. But when I bought my exhaust, I asked about Borla's (at more than one exhaust shop) and the response I got was that Borla's are excellent mufflers, but as for performace and sound, the Magnaflows and Borla's will sound about the same, and give about the same performance gains (assuming the same size muffler in each brand). different exhaust shops told me that the Borla's and Magnaflows were internally the same...

I think I believe it too...reason being is my dad had a Borla cat back on the Mustang GT, and we loved the sound, but he got tired of how freakin loud it was after about a year of commuting like that, and he wanted something a little cheaper for round two because he was wasting like 850 bucks getting rid of the Borla system...so he went for a Magnaflow system which was about 600 bucks, and had larger mufflers. It is still loud, but it is much more mellow on the highway now..but, the actual sound is the same as it was before with the Borlas..the Magnaflows just toned it down a bit, but thats because they are larger mufflers than the Borlas were....

I chose magnaflow just because of the GMPP cat-back kit. Best price if you want a full cat-back with a good name brand and a good sound.

I choose Other because I'm very happy with my cheap Summit Race mufflers. However, I don't have a 3.8L V6 so I don't know if my vote really counts.

Magnaflow sounds similar to Borla eh? I found a Borla exhaust on a 2002 SS 3.8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGf2vvR_jgg . Here's the sound of Magnaflow exhaust on a 2004 SS 3.8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W70VJ...eature=related They do sound sorta similar, but the camera on the '04 SS wasn't as good. I think I still would rather get Borla if I should come across the extra money.

Are your mufflers aluminized steel? I want to get the 304 Stainless steel if I can, because living in Indiana we get lots of snow in the winter, and lots of salt dumped on the road, and Borla comes with a 1,000,000 mile warranty. But I remember seeing summit mufflers before, I think they were only like $45 a piece for the 3.8...o_O
