Exhaust
Maybe someone can help me out here. I have a 2007 SS monte and wanted to change the exhaust system. I spoke to a few dealerships about the warrenty and they all said the same thing that a new exhaust system would void the warrenty. One of the dealerships told me not to give them an excuse when something breaks not to cover it under warrenty.
Has anyone change the exhaust system and had problems with there warrenty when they went back to the dealership?
I've every confused I don't want to get a hard time at the dealership if something breaks but the sock exhaust sounds like ****.

Changing your exhaust out would void the warranty on your stock exhaust.... that's it. If you have a power steering issue, they can't void the warranty on it because of the exhaust.
They have to prove that the modification you did was a direct cause of the break that requires repair. If your engine goes sour, starts leaking, or worse, chunks a piston, the exhaust wasn't a factor in play.
Don't worry about what they say.

Some dealers are also just lazy and will try to blame the problem on anything else just because they cannot find the true cause.
I couldn't begin to count how many sound systems and alarm/remote starts we had to take out because the dealer was "positive that was the cause" (of unrelated issues with other equipment in the car), even though the problem continued after it was removed. Sucks for the customer because they have to pay reinstall for their aftermarket equipment after the dealer finds the real cause and fixes that.
