I didnt want to start a whole new thread when we have tons of others so I will just ask here.

On my 04 SS, are there any systems I can install that will increase flow but NOT change the tone of the car? Every single 6cyl I have heard sounds like complete crap so I am not going to turn my new car into a rice sounding piece of crap.

So anyone here know of anything that does what I am looking for?

The only car that has a 6cyl that I have heard that sounds good is a friend of mines 2000 M3. He has an Eisenmann exhaust system but they only do higher end cars.

So what do you guys have for me?

Here is how his M3 sounded. this would be the only thing I would think of doing if possible besides stock.

I just changed out my whole exhaust from manifolds back. I used a Down pipe with high flow cat and an SLP catback system. it is kinda loud, but seems to be getting quieter as I drive it. Maybe its breaking in, or I'm just getting used to it. I really didn't want a loud system either, I don't think a MC should sound like a 60's muscle car. It does sound alot like a V8, not that "drone" usually asociated with a 6 cyl.

As far as having it as quiet as the factory system, I think I would keep the factory mufflers and go with a 2 1/2" down pipe and high flow cat and U bend delete. You'll get the performance increase (maybe not as much as with aftermarket mufflers) and maybe a little louder, but not much. The problem with a factory system is the restrictive cat and factory u bend.

no, I'm not technically savvy enough for that. I don't even own a digital camera. I guess I need to move into the new millenium some day...

Menti, I don't know if you have done this already, but check out the thread titled "Sound" In the "Sights and Sounds" Forum, there is a few sound bytes of my 04 SS with an exhaust, CAT-back, doesn't sound ricey at all. Check it out.
