Default cold air intake question

I have a 2004 monte carlo ls I was looking into getting a cold air intake system. Is it worth it and what do you recommend?

build your own save your money and get better performance out of it!!!

i agree that the wizzard air is pretty and does the job well... but for the price... i would never pay it. i had my FWI system built for less then $50... and if your good at all with building stuff you can make your own system like the wizzard air from plexi at homedepot or lows.

i have a 2002 monte carlo with the 3400, no one makes an intake for that motor so i bought a 3800 short ram from K&N and i have really good throttle response. it cost about $215 and gave me around a 13hp gain

x2, FWI FTW.

The only time I suggest those drop in cold air boxes is for someone who has little to no mechanical ability and needs something that is basically a drop in- then it makes sense to spend the extra money to get something pre-done.

Any proof of this +13 hp? Sounds awfully steep for an HAI, especially on an NA engine...

I can't say about the 13 hp, but I DO know it gave me an additional 2 mpg! If it did that, then I have to say the extra 13hp is close.

Only reason I say that is rockers on a NA 3800 are only supposed to give about 10-15 crank hp, which makes 13 horsepower froman intake seempretty ridiculous, especially the K&N.

I agree, i didnt feel no 13 horsepower difference with my K and N on my NA. the mod that gave me a noticable difference right away was the zzp downpipe. that took all low RPM lag away. Now with the K and N FIPK and the downpipe, now we are talking a noticable difference on my NA. the K and N FIPK was my first mod before all others, it gave me an aggressive sound out of the engine, and a slightly harder pull from the line.

honestly, if your going to do the intake, do the downpipe first. its about the same price anyways.
