Cold air intake for a 2004 V6 3.8 SS???
I was wondering if anyone knows if there’s a cold air intake for a V6 3.8L Monte Carlo SS?
I want to get a cold air intake for my V6 3.8L 2004 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged but I am having a really hard time finding one. I’m starting to think that there isn’t one unless you make a custom one. I went to a bunch of performance shops and all they have is just the standard intake from K&N. I also checked K&N’s website and they only have the standard intake.
However, I have searched some sites online and they claim to sell K&N cold air intakes, but when you look at the specs, it’s the identical specs as the one on the K&N site, so really there just sayings its cold air when it really isn’t, its just the old standard intake.
I need some expert advice from some Monte Carlo buffs, can anyone help me out?

Supposedly this K&N one isn’t a cold air intake, I talked to a few people from some performance shops that say its not cold air and it isn’t stated that it is on the K&N website, that’s what’s hesitating me from buying it. I once saw a cold air intake for the 3.8L SS a while back that sitsnearthe wheel well, with a longer tube. That’s the one I’m looking for but can’t find any where. Hey Wiz Kidd, you don’t have any pics of it on your motor by any chance do you?
Funny thing, after I posted this a buddy of mine told me a site that he bought some stuff off and I think I found the one Im looking for. Whats your option on this one Wiz? check out the pics. http://www.pfyc.com/pc/WB3032/MCUNDE...ntake+Kit.html

i dont think you would notice any difference in hp from the k&n one to that one...and in my opinion the k&n one looks a lot nicer too...
there are a lot of guyz n here that have made the fenderwell one..and they all seem happy with it...i'm not sure how they sound whether you get as much sound out of them as its stuck into the fender...
the k&n one gets more than enough cold air and i think you'd get just as much hp maybe even a little more than the fenderwell one...
i guess its just something you gotta try...i've never driven a monte that has the fenderwell one done...i just know how much of an improvement the k&n one made...and i can't see a fenderwell one making any more hp

thats the exact same spot the k&n one sits...the only thing i dont like about the thrasher one is that the tubing has an accordian in it..and thats restrictive...i think the cone on the k&n one is bigger too...i'll have to snap a pic of mine...there's few people that have them done on here too with pics...or if your in the woodstock area ever just stop in and i'll show you my setup
It's a 9" filter & YES it does make a difference
