i dont know from experience on the monte carlo, but everyone i've talked to that put chip in their car wasn't happy with it, that it did nothing.

maybe a programmer would be better for these things if they make one, i know they work a lot better than the chips, but maybe the chip works good on these cars

what year car? it all depends on the chip.... for the V6's FWD there arent many companys that offer a chip worth using... but the ones i would recomend are. DHP (digital horse power) and intense racing... and also ZZPerformance.

these ones are proven to work. and each company has cars in the 10 sec range if not better. the major chip companies like jet and hypertech do make chips for our cars, but they dont have much experience and so their chips dont do anything.

i have the DHP programer... one set above just a chip.. i can tune it myself and make the most out of each new mod. this is the best way to do it.

lol tell your friend to stick to what he knows best. lol

an intake refers normally to an entire system... this means it would include an air filter. some intakes dont include a filter and you will need to get one...

but yes you do need a filter and piping.

i would deff recomend you making your own intake system. here are some sites to look at for refrence:

http://www.oqcgp.com/forum/viewtopic...led+air+intake

these self built systems will normally out flow and get colder air then any system you can buy.

Just to comment on the experiance portion... I know Jet definately has experiance with chips and produce excellent ones, but they are for other vehicles. I beleive they concentrate on making great chips for Camaro's, Mustang's, Corvette's, Viper's - you know where I'm going here. But I think they just use their brand name for our cars and other "non performace" cars. In a nutshell they have great chips for these to make a name for themselves, but halfass it when it comes to everyone else.
