Just did this on my lunch break, went to my exhuast shop 5 min down the street asked about a full bat back, and he said don't worry about it.

The 3.9 engine resonator for exhaust is 2.5 and 2.25 and so the rest of my piping is 2.50 except the y pipe is 2" flow to mufflers,

Best thing don't need a cat back, Just $20 dollars he cut out my resonator and WOW best cheap mod ever and he welded a pipe in to straight pipe it now.

Definately Louder and smooth shift and you can tell a difference.

15 minutes and did it on my lunch I am so happy can't wait to drive home later

I showed my Performance buddy, he said I should change my y pipe to the mufflers to a 2.50 inch and do bigger inlets on the mufflers to get the most all the way through,

I will get a quote on that and will probably do this in the near future.

Called up the muffler shop

He will take my 2 inch y pipe out and put a 2.5 inch y pipe and will modify my mufflers to have a 2.50 inch tip for $100, Probably gonna do it tommorow, You know video clips will be up this weekend.

my resonator was 2.25 to 2.50 but is now true 2.50 to 2.50 and my mufflers will be 2.50 inch

I will have my own cat back for about $400 when its all done

when my exhaust was installed it was like $280 and with the res taken out its at $300 and with the y pipe changed and mufflers modded will be at $400 total, not bad compared to other exhuast systems for the price And I get flowmasters true sound

 

What a difference, when sitting at a light with the air flowing out with no resonator ya you can really hear her purrr! Gitting on to 50 mph nice sound

 

Let's see if my new signature works? I know not having mine is annoying

i have been thinkin about taken out the resonator in mine, just have not done it yet.
i am taken my girls car to garage 2maro for an oil change and tire rotate, so i was going to talk to them 2maro about doin that.

 

hey great idea mavrick. let us know how it all turns out when you get it all finished. you say you will get "true flowmaster sound." do you mean it sounds similar to flowmaster, or you're getting actual flowmaster mufflers coming off your Y pipe?

I can't wait to get my exhaust done.

I already have Flowmaster 40's on my car but now they get more flow because the resonator is off, so the mufflers get louder

I am gonna wait on the y pipe modification till next week or the following week because I will be racing this saturday in azsra and I am tied for first, so I am gonna put that money for the y pipe towards tuning my car before the races, I am thinking about it though making sure my budget is in order

I will do the y pipe in the very near weeks coming

The y pipe mod will mean I get the maximum air flow through my mufflers, almost there, Just taking off the resonator is well worth it
