Default Any gains from gutting stock airbox?

Before I pull the trigger on a thrasher cai, I was wondering if I should try gutting the stock airbox with a k&n filter? Has anyone experienced any gains? Or notice anything? Or should I just drop the loot and get down with a thrasher? The looks of the thrasher alone almost justify it lol Btw, I have no cat, resonator, or u bend. Thank you...

it definately frees up the airflow, because if you look at the air box, the inlet comes to a small circle if i remember correctly, and inside its pretty crammed, so it will open up the air flow. also, ive been trying to sell my airbox and no one wants any (its not gutted) so i dont see a loss in gutting it just as an experiment even, i just havent had time to do mine.

I used a K&N drop in in my stock airbox and experienced no gains. Just go for the new intake and call it a day.

You won't notice any performance difference but it might get a little louder.

Everything. LOL

Yes, you will notice some gains by gutting your airbox and using a K&N drop in filter. Plus, it'll sound much better.

You will see better gains with a real CAI, like the Thrasher...plus, the Thrasher intake is super OG (one of the first 3800 intakes, been out for at least a decade) and it does look awesome.

This whole gains thing all depends on how much you pay attention to how your car drives. Somthing that somone might not feel anything from might be explaimed as a nice gain from somone else. Its worth the try. Ive felt gains from things that people said I wouldnt get nothing from.
