Air intake project

I'm not 100% on the angle

I think the 90° bend is too close to the throat of the throttle body and will create turbulence, the air filter doesn't have enough surface area and where it is located it will be sucking in all the hot air from the exhaust. I also think that if you don't secure the PCM you will soon be replacing it due to excessive vibration. Not trying to sound like an arse, just offering some constructive criticism. ;)

And that's what i was thinking after i got it on there. after i got it on i was thinking Damn that's close the the engine. 90° was all i could find in the right size. I hate this town. The PCM will be bolted down and inclosed so Im not worried about that. Thanks for the input.

See if you can get a local shop to bend a piece of pipe for you. Metal pipe the is.

Off topic but nice looking engine bay!

It might be the pic, but the 90 degree bend looks like you are loosing diameter. Since this is not a turbo or supercharge setup where you have large volume of air coming in, I would think you would want the diameter of the pipe equal to the inlet of the throttle body from start to finish. The throat of the stock TB is 64-65mm, I would NOT have anything smaller then that.
Also, as said earlier, you' sucking in hot air from the engine, you need to shield and insulate that sucker. Suck as a Wizaird makes a for air box to help shield from hot air coming in and allow the cone to get air forces in from the inlet (complete open side) of the air box.
And lastly, definitely secure and cushion that PCM. Other wise it's going to bounce and smack stuff in there.

Its a 4 to 3 inch 90 degree bend. It should be something like a 40 degree bend right? I honestly didn't think about having a metal pipe made for it. The machine shop in town is owned by a family friend so i think ill make a stop at his shop Monday. At some point i want to open up the hood scoop and channel air from there, but that's a ways off. all of that stuff was just sitting there and the stock cleaner is back on til Monday:)

Something to keep in mind, you choice in materials has an affect on temperature.
- Metals conduct heat more then plastic. If you use metal ducting, you will definitely want to insulate it.
Just keep that in mind.

There are a lot of threads on building there own intakes. I think this insulation would work pretty good for wrapping an intake pipe or even building a box. seal it up with some aluminum tape and youd be good to go. 16 in. x 25 ft.
