Air filter question
I have a 2004 monte ls and i was wondering if instead of buying a cold air intake could i replace the air filter box with this http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/SPT8136.htm. But keep the original hose because it has all the sensors on it. would that do anything or just keep the stock air filter box?
Inside your stock air filter box is your PCM, so if you take the box away you will need a PCM tray. Then your stock piping is probably going to be really short, and that small cone will sit close to the engine heat. That will make your cone pull hot air and hinder performance.
Buy some longer hose from ZZP, get a PCM tray, and tuck a cone into your fenderwall.

Cone filter stuck on the end of the stock duct = hot air intake, not a CAI. Build a wall around it to insulate it from engine heat to make it a CAI, or extend the tubing to the fender well for a FWI.
edit- lol, didn't even see your post, we said pretty much the same thing
