Hey everyone!! I've got a 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34 with a 3.8l supercharged and chipped V6. I've got the stock exhaust on it and cant afford a whole new system. One of my mufflers is starting to leak so I was just going to replace both mufflers. As most of you know, 3.8l engines don't sound good with the mufflers off (just my opinion, don't hate me). I want the car to sound good, low, and have a nice rumble but don't want it to shout at the world. I guess I still want it to be quiet but a tad louder than stock. I know, I'm picky sorry but anyone have any thoughts or ideas? Thanks guys and have an awesome memorial weekend!!!!!!!

 

Well your best bet is to search youtube and find something you like, here is what i have. No mufflers and a glasspack in place of the resonator, not what i'd reccomend if you don't want it shouting at the world lol.

Sup dude id recommend magnaflow for sure, not obnoxious but hums at a good volume as well as back pressure... Especially having a supercharged monte when you hit that gas damn it sounds mean

 

about how much did this cost and what are the details like what size pipe and what glass pack and did it throw a code im trying to figure out what i want for my exhaust this is one of the best i have heard

 

I'd have to dig through my records for an exact price but it was a couple hundred bucks. I believe its an 18" cherry bomb glasspack, and the mufflers were replaced with 2.5" pipe. Must have been all they had as stock size at that point is 2.25". It didn't throw any codes or anything, just fyi, it is quite loud and does drone alot on the highway.

 

thank you and how loud who you say like a big v8 loud or like loud compared to stock and at low speed how is it ?

and did you feel a power gain from it and one last thing how is the cherry bomb holding up and how long have u had it sorry for all the questions but i just like to know the facts

 

It's still a v6 so it really wont sound like a v8, but its very loud compared to stock. A cop told me it was loud while i was pulled over for something else. Just cruising around its fairly quiet, except for around 2k rpm, thats the loudest point. I didn't notice any power gains and i'd say the glasspack is still holding up fairly well, i've had it for a little over a year.

There is a possibility you may get pulled over, depends what rpm you're turning when you pass a cop and what they think. Had i not been pulled over for another reason, i dont think i would have been stopped just for exhaust.

 

Wow my comment is where do you find a 3.8 supercharged engine that has been "chipped"?
