Default 2000 Monte Carlo exhaust recommendation

I just bought a 2000 Monte Carlo LS and I was planning on converting it out to duel exhaust. I was wondering if anyone new of what brand sounded the best with the Monte Carlo and what they recommend what brand to go with. Also if you think I should go with stainless steel or just a finished look. Any input would be appreciated thanks a lot. Nick

Well I'm looking to go with a zzp off-road down pipe with the GM Performance cat-back system and because it is a off-road pipe i need to get my PCM tune because i am taking out the cat witch is about 100 bucks, but you can by the down pipe with a cat for an extra 30 bucks. So I'm looking at send just about 700 to 750 on my exhaust system.

My budget is around a 1000 and I would like to keep it under that. I just bought my 2000 LS and it only has 21 thousand miles on it and it has the 3400 motor. I will get some pics up as soon as possible. Thanks

DAM!!! 1000 for an exhaust?? You wont need near that. I did my whole exhaust
(-headers) for a little ever $500. I also have the 3400 and I got dual with cherrybombs MUFFELRS not glasspack and put on a ZZP offroad downpipe. Do a youtube search for the 3400 with different brands and im sure youll find somthing you like. You really dont need stainless, but its for sure a good idea if you want it to last for a long time. And the 500+ included the guy doing the an upgrade to 2.6" piping (which has no use I guess.)

Wait.. You talking 1000 for a mod budget?? Probably best to do what I tell everyone to do. 1st, CAI. 2nd, exhaust. 3rd PCM tune so you can really get the most out of the first two. And if you go ahead and make your own intake, that shouldnt set you back more than 700-750 like monte793 said. Then after those three and you got a little cash left you can do some of the smaller things.

Here take a quick look at this>> http://www.clubgm.com/?name=3400mods&PHPSESSID=onpqdlrz

The budget was around a 1000 if I went with stainless but if there are no real advantages then it is not necessary. If I could get it done for around 500 that would b nice. I want a muscle sound for a good price. I was thinking either magnaflow or flowmaster but wanted some opinions.

You might not get too much of the "muscle" sound. But you can for sure make it sound dam good!

Let me know and Ill give you some links of different brands that people have done to the 3400's. If you wanna hear them.

You might want to go with stainless if you drive alot in the snow and rain or if your car isnt garage kept. and if youre pretty set on magnaflow or flowmaster, id say go with the magnaflow cause its got the powerful sound to it. flowmaster has a sound to it that is kinda "doing it cause I want some sound" but thats more my opinion more than anything else. Its all about what you like and what you want YOUR car to sound like. You shouldnt do it because you think it what other people wanna hear on YOUR car.

or you can give it a nice coat of engine paint and that will help a bit. they didnt come stock with stainless did they? it wont rust much if you wash off the salt end of winter.
