06 3.9 exhaust clip
This may seem a bit odd, since this is the stock 3.9 exhaust, but I took these clips after listening to how quiet a co-workers 05 Monte was. He has a 3.8 with factory dual mufflers. Since this sounds more aggressive than an 06 Impala 3.9, also, I'm guessing that the MC mufflers are less restrictive than the Impala's. That would also explain why the Impala's 3.9 is rated 7hp less than the Monte. I plan on keeping the stock mufflers, but will probably make a couple changes north of the y pipe.
this first one is starting and backing into the garage:

second one is wife taking off:

Hopefully, I'll be able to get a "drive-by" clip today

Here's a couple more clips: The first is a launch- sounds best with volume cranked up and a sub!

Here's the driveby ( my neighbors must just love me!)

I plan to keep the stock muffler- don't see any reason to change them. I'll probably go to a Flowmaster resonator, free flow cat, and maybe 1/4" larger pipe ( I haven't checked to see what size tubing is used from manifolds to y pipe yet). It doesn't use a "U" bend, but some headers would be nice!

RE: 06 3.9 exhaust clip
A comment on Flowmasters ( this will probably annoy a few people): after replacing the Gibson muffler with a Flowmaster 40 series Delta Flow on my 03 Ram, there was a noticeable loss of power and a drop in gas mileage. I've read results from 2 seperate flow comparisons, done by university engineering students,as well as being told by a third group, that when they tested mufflers, Flowmasters came in 3rd behind Dyno Max super turbos and Hooker Aeroflow. The Dyno Max and Hooker flowed about the same, and the Flowmaster wasn't even close. Long story short: although I like the sound of Flowmasters, the next set of aftermarket mufflers I buy will probably be the Hookers.
