I read that article years ago, and it was fun to read it again. Back then, my dad talked about how the cars looked nothing like the street versions. Oh, how that car was a spitting image of the street car compared to the COT!!! I would like to find a way to compare my '68 Torino to it's NASCAR brethren!

The body lines and the block match, that's about all. They gutted the interior, welded in different floor pans, sometimes even set the body on a different chassis. I saw a picutre of a Benny Parsons car once that actually used the same shock towers for the back.

And here is the shock tower location, on teh stock car, you do have to climb through the trunk to get to the top bolts on the shocks..... and there isn't a boot on them, just a rubber plug.
Come to think of it, the valve covers look a bit like the ones on my 390... and they were the same for all FE block engines, so there you go.
