Thanks for the Come-backs:

OK ... Cabin Air Filter sounds like a "Piece 'O Cake.

Sparklers are an adventure. That's what I figured. The Manual says to run 'em forever. No way. I'm gearing up for the fight. I spoke to the SnapOn Tool Guy and he had a nice trick flexible extension that's gonna come in real handy, this week.

I'm doing the job like I have to do it blindfolded. Following the wire and all that. Thankfully, there's only three. Christmas Present came. WeatherTech Front Mats. I should have them in there NOW! The weather is all Ice, Snow and Rain.

OK ...
Cabin Filter ... check!
Rear side Sparker's ... check!
Fuel Filter ... check!
Engine Air Filter ... Done!

She's coming together my way.
I'm having fun wrenchin' on a ride; again ... check!!! : )

Hey Rick, Welcome to MCF!!!!

What year is your Monte and what size V6 is it?

If you have a 3.1, 3.4 or 3.8 liter, take off the front motor mounts, roll the car and the engine should move forward. Put the parking break on and you will have much better access to those rear plugs.

I think half the trouble was moving parts that hadn't been moved since it left the factory. I have no doubt I was looking at the original air filter and it was caked bad. Now my baby can breathe.

Hey Rick.
Sorry I didn't get back to ya yesterday. The Monte got buried in a snow drift from the snow storm we had. Still not completely dug out. (forgot to take pics -- sorry)

My engine air filter was the original also. Which is probably why it was so hard to open the airbox.

The instructions Mickey gave ya for the cabin filter sounds like the same instructions I read. Gonna have to change mine when it warms up. Hopefully I don't get my hand bitten off like I did when I changed the engine air filter.

Anybody care to impart some "Been-dare~Done-dat" wisdom on me for finding the reach and getting to those Plugs on the Firewall side?
Easy. Invest in a deep well socket to fit the plugs, and start feeling. That honestly is the only way to do it. Took me 6 minutes to change all 6 plugs, front, and back a few nights ago. First time, a few months ago, took me nearly an hour. You get alot better as time goes on. And make sure to use some Dielectric grease, or you may have misfires. =)

I know of an old mechanics trick to stick the new plug into the boot of an old plug wire, and use that to get the new plug started. Has a certain amount of flexibility to it, and gives you a better feel if the plug is cross-threading.

No way, hand threading is the only way to go, =)

honestly the first time is what hurts ya. after that it is not that bad. they are not easy but you figure out how to do it and makes it easier.

the thing would also sugest is if they are the org. plug wires make sure you have the cash to get another set and or a set waiting there just in case.

the heat shields will be a pain in the ****.

after mine got wet and i had to take plugs out it started with a miss. i belive i got a plug wire brken but i cant find where. but it was doing fine till after this LOL

So i will be doing a set of wires here shortly .

Tonight I'm going to undo the two "Dog-bones" and see if I can rotate the Engine forward for some "Reach" behind the Engine to replace the three hard-to-get Spark Plugs. I'll let you know how it works!
