For a similar price to the 06-07 Monte I could trade to a 05-10 Ford Mustang with a 4.6 and 300+ hp. Or for $12-15k a Pontiac GTO!

Hi Cowboy 'Duane,
I like your options/choices. I drive a 08 Eclipse GT 3.8L & it's a OK ride, but I really prefer RWD vs FWD...
The V8 Mustangs & GTO's are great rides, but theres not much room in the rear seats.

Wish U good luck on finding what you want & that it's in decent shape.
It seem many members on this forum have multiple rides (I dont know how you can afford to insure & maintain all of them. I have prob's just taking care of one ride.

In my fax to Space > I wrote him that U were look'in 4 another ride. I will let U know what he writes back

Keep the forum updated & enjoy your summer trip
Peace > Bum'Mike

Well you probably know how I voted. I traded my used 05 SS for my Mustang. With a newer car you will still have a warrany and won't have to worry about the issues with a higher mile used Monte Carlo - Trans and LIM & UIM gaskets. I'm also getting the best gas mileage of any car I have owned and has the highest horsepower of any car I have ever owned (so far).

So why not one more? LoL

I kind of like the idea right now of not having a car payment. It frees up my money to do so many other things that I enjoy as well. I might lower the Monte sometime late summer. Don't we have a thread somewhere on how to supercharge one of these things?

Maybe get one of those turbochargers and just not set it up too hot? I don't need 500 hp... 250-300 range would suffice... hhaaha

I agree, a quick bolt on Turbo unit, can be had for a small amount and you don't have to push the envelope on power. We have guys here with turbo GP's and while not making huge power, they have a cars that are quick enough for their needs. My first turbo set up was not big, a Turbonetics T3 something or another, but the Monte came alive. Way fun to drive. I already owned it for about 6 years stock and like you expressed about yours, I was bored with it. The power adder is what made me fall in love all over again with it. Such a unique body style car, handles well, rides well, just needs some more kick in the butt abilities. My first turbo set up was not a bolt on kit, had a friend intercool it and Turbo it. But it cost as much as a well thought out bolt on turbo kit. So in retrospect I now endorse the 6 hour turbo bolt on kit. Nurse her back from the brinks of despair and you will see what she can be for you.

How is your transmission holding up to that turbo? What is your fuel mileage like?

It's probably too late but this thread is still open so here's my 2 cents worth. Get the Mustang! You're a Ford guy. It's obvious. You're on a Chevrolet Monte Carlo Forum asking "should I buy a Ford or should I stay with a Monte?" From your Avatar to the pic at the bottom of your posts to the cars listed. It's obvious! You like Fords. Say it! I like Fords. Feel better?

I'm sure whatever you were going to do, you've done it by now but I hope you bought the Ford because I think that is what would make you (a Ford guy) happy.
