Default was it worth it!?

I just bought a 85 Monte Carlo wit a 350 motor already in it! For $500. The problem, under the hood, it was missing a carburetor (just purchased), lots of wiring cut and some hoses missing. Hood and trunk only the main part where it rust has. Inside... some wiring for the radio, headlight switch broke, no back seat, no topliner, left door wont close all the way, right door missing outside handle and trunk wont open due to no key. Was this worth buying. I'm new to the Chevy theme. Please help experts!

I would part it out. Unless you enjoy restoring cars and have the time... resell or part out.

Getting a 350 for $500.00 makes it definitely worth it - plus you can part out the rest of it. It sounds like rebuilding it would cost way too much and take a long time. Maybe you could sell the engine, sell the parts, and make enough to buy a Monte in better shape...

Would it be a great project to build upon? Or waste of time?

Wow. That's a lot of work! Looks like it was being used as a parts car. Anything can be restored if you have enough money. The question is, is it worth it?

As much as it pains me to say this, I think that Monte may be very close to being not worth it. Money wise. But if you're an enthusiast of these cars (which all of us here are), I'd see it as a good challenge.

Since I just purchased it, I think I will take on that challenge! If there is a will, its a way to bring that Monte back. I guess start off under the hood then undercarriage, then the body! Boys just give me hope with this one and I'm going to keep you posted wit my every move! Thanks for your opinions!

i dont think its worth it. is it a real SS car? even if it is its not worth it. i would take the front end the seats and console and sell it. 350s arent hard to find, but can still be sold for a couple hundred bucks. same thing with the rear. then scrap the rest. they made a billion mcs between 81-88. why waste the time and money rebuilding one thats trashed when you can find one with a straight body and interior. you can probably find a v6 grannny fresh one for under a g and slap that nose and tail lights and drivetrain in it and still make some money on the scrap. well good luck anyway.
